The Nordic Library

The Nordic Library was inaugurated in 1995. It is a research library which mainly aims at archeology and studies of ancient culture.

The institutes of the four Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden) run the library jointly and coordinate their book purchases. The library houses around 40,000 publications and 450 journals, which mainly cover areas within Greek archeology and ancient Greek history and religion.

The library offers ideal working conditions all year round, and residents at the Danish Institute can get a permanent work place at the Library if they need it.

The library is within walking distance of the Danish Institute in Athens, on the south side of the Acropolis in the Makrigianni area.
